On Thursday, January 9, 2020, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced the selection of Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) as the site for the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). This was a major step forward toward realizing the EIC for the nuclear physics communities inthe U.S. and around the world.

Brookhaven will continue to work closely with the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility to make the EIC a reality. We also are committed to working with the EIC User Group to develop the EIC program. The EIC will be a world-wide unique facility. Recognizing this, DOE and BNL welcome and strongly encourage international participation in this exciting new project.
