Lancio del nuovo sito web

SIF Prima Pagina ha debuttato nel mese di gennaio 2014 come la nuova newsletter della Società Italiana di Fisica, che con cadenza mensile funge da complemento al nostro ormai quasi trentenne bollettino e rivista per la diffusione della cultura scientifica: Il Nuovo Saggiatore.

SIF Prima Pagina è un notiziario puramente elettronico con il compito di informare quasi in tempo reale, fornendo notizie di interesse per tutti i fisici: premi, concorsi, bandi, scadenze, fatti, eventi, risultati e opinioni dall'Italia, dall'Europa e dal mondo.
All'interno di SIF Prima Pagina trovano spazio annunci e informazioni concernenti non soltanto la SIF ma anche Società o Associazioni ad essa collegate e affini. La newsletter non è quindi destinata ai soli Soci SIF, bensì a una lista allargata di lettori.

Il debutto, come alcuni di voi avranno sicuramente notato, è avvenuto in maniera un po' amatoriale: in sostanza abbiamo mandato a una lista estesa (e in continua crescita) di oltre 15000 lettori una newsletter elettronica in formato html, corredata da link e pdf scaricabili, nonché da belle immagini (anche se non sempre di ottima qualità, per non appesantire il messaggio elettronico inviato).

Dal numero di agosto in poi, SIF Prima Pagina si è finalmente dotata di un sito web che assomiglia molto ai siti dei nostri maggiori quotidiani online, anche se ovviamente potrà essere via via migliorato. Il vantaggio non è solo dal punto di vista tecnico per la preparazione di ogni numero - che esce per ora con cadenza mensile. Il sito web costituisce anche un potente strumento di indagine per seguire l'interesse e il gradimento della newsletter, il sito fornisce un archivio facilmente consultabile di tutte le notizie precedentemente pubblicate su SIF Prima Pagina, il sito ospita (e sollecita) suggerimenti, commenti e reazioni. Insomma, il sito vuole essere un nuovo strumento della SIF al passo coi tempi.

Mi auguro vivamente che possa presto essere un "privilegio" ottenere spazio su SIF Prima Pagina e che questo sito web possa diventare un polo di attrazione e un punto di riferimento per tutti i nostri Soci e non solo. Il passo successivo sarà quello di abilitare la pubblicazione di notizie davvero in tempo reale, man mano che ci pervengono. Ma questo dipende dall'effettivo successo della newsletter, dunque da voi!

SIF Prima Pagina made its debut in January 2014 as the newborn newsletter of the Italian Physical Society, a monthly complement to our almost thirty years old bulletin and magazine for dissemination of scientific culture: Il Nuovo Saggiatore.

SIF Prima Pagina is an electronic-only newsletter, aimed to timely distribute interesting news for the physicists’community: prizes, competitions, announcements, deadlines, facts, events, results and opinions from Italy, Europe and from all over the world. SIF Prima Pagina hosts news and information relative not only to SIF but also to other related and alike scientific Societies and Organizations. Therefore the newsletter is not meant for SIF Members only, it is actually dispatched to an extended mailing list.

As you will have certainly noticed, this debut occurred in a somehow amateurish way: we just sent out to a large (and constantly growing) list of more than 15000 readers our electronic newsletter in html format, with links and downloadable pdfs, accompanied by nice figures (even if not always of extremely good quality in order not to overload the electronic message).

Starting from its August issue, SIF Prima Pagina has eventually been equipped with its own website which appears very similar to the websites of our major online newspapers, although it will be obviously subject to gradual improvement. The advantage is not only from a technical point of view as far as the production of each issue is concerned – presently still with monthly frequency. In addition, the website is a powerful survey tool to monitor the interest and approval rating of the newsletter, the website provides an easily retrievable archive of all news previously published in SIF Prima Pagina, the website offers (and encourages) the possibility to leave suggestions comments and feedbacks. Ultimately this website is meant to be a new instrument for SIF, to date with the times.

I strongly hope that publishing in SIF Prima Pagina might soon be considered a "privilege" and that this website might become a pole of attraction and a reference point for all our Members and not only. Next step will be that of enabling the real-time publication of the news indeed upon their reception. But this depends on the actual success of the newsletter, therefore on you!
